These terms apply to your use of Rent-a-Skill at rentaskill.co.za. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Rent-a-Skill.
1. What Rent-a-Skill is
Rent-a-Skill is an online marketplace that connects people offering skills and services ("professionals") with people who need work done ("seekers"). We provide the platform only. We are not a party to any agreement between members, we do not employ professionals, and we do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality or timing of any work.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
- The information you give us must be accurate and kept up to date. One person, one account.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done through your account.
- If you register with an email address you must verify it before signing in.
3. Using the marketplace
- Professionals must describe their skills, qualifications, rates and availability honestly and hold any licence, registration or insurance the work requires by law.
- Seekers must describe requests honestly and only post genuine work.
- Prices, scope, timing and payment are agreed directly between the members involved.
- Bookings follow the process shown in your dashboard: a professional accepts a request, work is marked in progress, and completion, let-down or cancellation must be confirmed by both parties.
- Reviews may only be left for bookings that actually went ahead, and must be honest and based on your own experience.
4. Things you must not do
- Post false, misleading, discriminatory, hateful, sexual, violent or illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Offer or request illegal goods or services, or work that requires a licence you do not hold.
- Harass, threaten, spam or defraud other members, or use Rent-a-Skill to collect other people's personal information.
- Leave fake reviews, review yourself, or pressure anyone over a review.
- Upload malware, try to access other accounts or systems, or interfere with how the site works (including automated scraping).
5. Content and moderation
You keep ownership of what you post, but you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on Rent-a-Skill and in search engines while it is on the platform. We may review, refuse, edit or remove any listing, review, profile or message that breaks these terms, and suspend or remove accounts that do. Listings may need approval before they appear, and edited listings may go back into review. To report content, use the "Report" link on the page or contact us.
6. Advertising
Rent-a-Skill is free to use and is supported by advertising. Advertisements are clearly labelled; we are not responsible for the products or services of advertisers.
7. Liability
To the extent allowed by law, Rent-a-Skill is provided "as is", and we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from agreements or dealings between members, from work performed or not performed, or from temporary unavailability of the site. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 that cannot be limited.
8. Ending your account
You can stop using Rent-a-Skill at any time and ask us to remove your account by contacting us. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms or put other members at risk.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The new version applies from the date shown above; if you keep using Rent-a-Skill after a change, you accept the updated terms.
